Holistic Veterinarian and Pioneer in Integrative Veterinary Medicine
“Animals deserve more than just symptomatic treatment. They need medicine that understands their entire organism—medicine that draws on the latest scientific findings while also incorporating the proven healing methods of various traditions. True healing respects the body’s self-healing powers and supports them.”
This philosophy shapes the work of Dr. Andreas Lanbach, DVM—a veterinarian who is now regarded as one of the leading experts in holistic veterinary medicine and integrative healing methods in Tyrol. With his practice “Meditier” in Tarrenz and his expertise in acupuncture, surgery, and the integration of conventional veterinary medicine with alternative approaches, he has elevated holistic animal health to a scientifically sound and practically applicable level.
Born in Tyrol, he first attended elementary school in Tarrenz—the very town where he would later establish his veterinary practice—and then the renowned Franziskanergymnasium in Hall in Tyrol. Building on this foundation, he pursued his studies in veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, where, from 1987 to 1994, he acquired in-depth knowledge in all areas of veterinary medicine—from anatomy and pathology to clinical practice. The challenges of conventional veterinary medicine—chronic diseases, the limitations of drug therapies, and the need for a holistic approach—led him to the conviction that true healing requires more than merely symptomatic treatment. His professional career has consistently focused on integrating various healing traditions, whereby he views holism not as an alternative to conventional medicine, but as a fundamental complement to veterinary care.
In his professional practice, he specializes in conventional veterinary medicine, surgery, dentistry, acupuncture, and integrative therapies. After completing his studies, he returned to his native Tyrol and founded the practice “Meditier”—a neologism that encompasses both “medicine for animals” and the aspects of meditation, mindfulness, and a holistic approach. He works with pet owners to share knowledge about holistic veterinary medicine. In doing so, he places great emphasis on combining medical effectiveness with respectful support of the body’s self-healing abilities.
A central focus of his work is the integration of various healing traditions into veterinary practice. He is dedicated to identifying the limitations of purely symptomatic treatment, developing holistic therapeutic strategies, and supporting the establishment of integrative treatment approaches in veterinary medicine.
Currently, his clinical work focuses on integrating acupuncture and other methods of traditional Chinese medicine into veterinary care. In his practice, he combines surgical expertise with holistic approaches, ensuring that animals always have access to qualified care. His expertise in postoperative care makes him a key advocate for the integration of mycotherapy into veterinary medicine.
With his practice “Meditier” at Hauptstraße 3a in Tarrenz, Dr. Lanbach has created a space that goes far beyond standard veterinary medicine. The practice combines conventional veterinary care with alternative healing methods, thereby making the world of integrative veterinary medicine accessible to pet owners in the region. His willingness to integrate various healing traditions and his practical experience with acupuncture in animals make the practice a prime example of how holistic veterinary medicine can be put into practice. As a result, Meditier is now regarded as a model for integrative veterinary medicine, valued by both colleagues in the field and pet owners alike.
He knows how to combine scientific rigor with practical feasibility and advocates for an integrative approach to veterinary medicine—as a synergy of conventional medicine, alternative healing methods, and respectful support of the body’s self-healing abilities. His many years of clinical experience make it clear that medicinal mushrooms are not merely a theoretical concept to him, but a concrete means of supporting animal health. At the Mycoverse Foundation, he contributes his expertise in conventional veterinary medicine, surgery, acupuncture, and practical implementation, helping to responsibly integrate scientific findings in mycotherapy into veterinary practice.
