Pioneer of holistic medicine
“True healing does not come from merely treating symptoms—it comes from understanding the whole person within their physical, emotional, and social context. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and the most vulnerable members of society deserve our full attention and dignity.”
This conviction shapes the work of Dr. Kurt Moser—a physician, entrepreneur, and consciousness worker who is now regarded as one of Tyrol’s most versatile medical professionals. With over 35 years of clinical experience, his commitment to helping the homeless since 1991, his work as a substitution medicine specialist, and the founding of Terra Yogi, he has elevated the topics of holistic health and consciousness work to a level that is both practically effective and socially relevant.
In 1975, Kurt Moser graduated from high school—a milestone that sparked his interest in the human body. He completed his studies in medicine at the University of Innsbruck, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree. From 1986 to 1989, he worked as a physician at the University Hospital of Innsbruck. On May 1, 1989, he opened his own practice at Pradlerstraße 41 in Innsbruck—a practice he continues to run today and which has become a go-to destination for people seeking more than just symptomatic treatment.
From an early age, he developed a passion for understanding how healing works on various levels—physical, psychological, and social. His multifaceted medical career was built on this vision.
From 1992 to 1996, he worked as an emergency physician for Tirol Air Ambulance—a role that demands the highest level of expertise under extreme conditions. In the air, every second counts; every decision can save a life. This honed his skills and his ability to make clear decisions under pressure.
From 1992 to 2007, he served as the team physician for the Tyrolean Taekwondo Association and as the team physician for the national team. He accompanied the athletes to national and international championships and gained expertise in the complex medical aspects of competitive sports—from injury prevention and acute care to rehabilitation.
From 1995 to 2023, he served as a consulting physician for the Tyrol State Police Department—nearly three decades of public service. From 1993 to 1995, he was a lecturer and examiner at the West Training Center, where he shared his knowledge with certified nursing staff. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a medical consultant for the Pension Insurance Institution.
Since 1991, his professional work has focused on providing medical care to homeless people in Innsbruck—a service that goes far beyond the scope of typical medical practice. This reflects his deep conviction that access to medical care is a fundamental right and that the most vulnerable members of society deserve our attention.
Working with people on the margins of society has sharpened his awareness of the social determinants of health and illness. There, he learned that healing often requires more than just medication—it requires dignity, respect, and a willingness to see the whole person in their often difficult circumstances.
In 2007, Dr. Moser expanded his practice to include substitution therapy. He was added to the list of substitution physicians in Austria and completed the required training program. Substitution therapy for people with opioid dependence requires not only professional knowledge but also special human qualities: empathy, patience, and the ability to refrain from judging people based on their addictive behavior, but rather to accompany them on their path to recovery.
A central focus of his work is the realization that many illnesses have their roots in the psyche, in life circumstances, or in unresolved conflicts. To truly help people, one must consider the causes on all levels.
In 2010, he received certification as a life and social counselor. By founding Terra Yogi and launching the website www.terrayogi.at, he opened up a new field of activity in the areas of counseling, mindfulness, and personal development. This step was not a departure from medicine, but rather a logical extension of it.
From 2012 to 2015, Dr. Moser completed training in psycholytic psychotherapy (352 hours) and advanced training to become a supervisor for life and social counselors (103 hours). Psycholytic psychotherapy is a profound approach that uses mind-altering substances under controlled conditions to facilitate therapeutic breakthroughs. This form of therapy requires not only comprehensive psychological and medical knowledge, but also personal maturity and the ability to competently guide people through altered states of consciousness.
Currently, his work focuses on continuing Terra Yogi. With Terra Yogi, Dr. Moser created a platform that centers on mindfulness, personal development, and spiritual growth. Here, his medical knowledge combines with his understanding of psychological processes and his experience with consciousness work. Terra Yogi represents a holistic approach that views people not merely as patients with symptoms, but as whole beings on a path of development.
He knows how to combine medical expertise with human empathy and entrepreneurial thinking, and advocates an integrative understanding of healing—as the interplay of body, mind, and spirit. His work makes it clear that, for him, health is not merely the absence of illness, but a dynamic process of realizing human potential.
Dr. Moser’s strength lies in his down-to-earth approach and practical expertise. As a practicing physician with over 35 years of experience, he understands the realities of daily practice. He knows what works and what doesn’t, what is feasible and what is too complicated. This practical perspective makes him a valuable partner for anyone seeking to implement holistic health approaches in their practice.
Dr. Moser’s versatility is also evident in his entrepreneurial endeavors. As early as 1980—while still a student—he founded the company Hobbytrain. He imported model trains from Japan and began his own production in Rum near Innsbruck in 1984. With international distribution across Europe, the company grew into a major player in the model train industry. In 1998, he sold the successful company.
From 2000 to 2007, he ran the specialty store Absolut Dessous in Innsbruck—a testament to his ability to constantly take on new challenges and successfully overcome them.
At the Mycoverse Foundation, Dr. Kurt Moser brings his extensive medical expertise, his understanding of holistic health approaches, and his experience with consciousness work. Dr. Moser’s approach at Terra Yogi—the integration of body, mind, and spirit—harmonizes perfectly with the holistic effects of medicinal mushrooms.
Medicinal mushrooms work on multiple levels: they strengthen the immune system, regulate metabolic processes, possess adaptogenic properties, and—in the case of psychoactive species—can also affect consciousness. His experience as a life and social counselor enables him to guide the meaningful integration of medicinal mushrooms into holistic health approaches. He knows that healing often requires more than just taking a supplement—it requires changes in thinking, lifestyle, attitude, and consciousness.
His down-to-earth perspective is invaluable to the Mycoverse Foundation: Ultimately, all research and innovation must find its way into practice, reaching the people who need help. Dr. Moser helps us understand how mycotherapy can be put into practice—in an accessible, understandable way that can be easily integrated into everyday life.
Dr. Kurt Moser’s life journey shows us that true healing arises from the integration of diverse perspectives. His experiences as an emergency physician, sports medicine specialist, police physician, addiction treatment specialist, entrepreneur, life coach, and psychotherapist have given him a perspective that transcends individual disciplines. His work makes a significant contribution to a future that unites medical expertise, social conscience, and the fulfillment of human potential.
