Roland Maria Reininger - Mycoverse Foundation

“Design is much more than just making things look nice—it is a problem-solving process that imbues the product, visual elements, company, and brand with messages that silently answer the user’s or customer’s questions. And in this process, distilling everything down to the essentials is the key to blending functional and aesthetic qualities into a cohesive whole that is easy to understand.”

This conviction shapes the work of Roland Maria Reininger—a designer, photographer, and visionary who today works as a versatile creator at the intersection of creativity, aesthetics, technology, functionality, and innovation. With more than 20 years of multidisciplinary experience, he has elevated the field of design to a holistic level that combines analytical precision with creative intuition, thereby creating solutions that are both technically sound and emotionally impactful.

Creative Roots

Born in Bregenz, Austria, in 1979, he developed an early appreciation for form, function, and visual communication as the son of an architect. Building on this foundation, he pursued his design studies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and earned a degree in Industrial Design from FH Joanneum Graz (2005). His professional career took him from Creative Product Design at ALPLA to design and engineering at AVL Graz, and on to senior design and development roles and the position of Managing Director at TCA Systems GmbH.

Personal motivation

Since 2014, Roland Maria Reininger has been running his own creative studio, which specializes in design systems, brand design, corporate identity, web development, and visual storytelling. His work confidently navigates the intersection of aesthetics, technology, and functionality, creating solutions that make complex content accessible and engaging.

Creativity, Innovation, and Networking

In addition to his professional work, he has a passionate interest in physics, new technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This broad range of curiosity and expertise makes him a valuable source of inspiration who bridges different disciplines and opens up innovative perspectives.

A particular strength – networked design

He knows how to combine creative sensibility with an understanding of technology and advocates an integrative approach to design—as an interplay of form, function, and communication. As a member of the Mycoverse Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, he contributes his expertise in design, communication, photography, and innovation processes, helping to translate scientific findings into visual and conceptual terms for public discourse.
