Phd. Noor Stenfert Kroese
is a media artist, scenographer, and doctoral researcher. She lives and works in Linz (AT), where she is pursuing her PhD at Creative Robotics and a lecturer at the University of Arts Linz. She is also University Assistant in the Master's program Art & Science at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Her current research focuses on data storytelling of living organisms, fungi-inspired biocomputing, and other-than-human interactions with industrial robots.
Noor's work has been exhibited and performed at various venues and festivals, including the Ars Electronica Festival (AT), Festival X (UAE), ISEA (FR) and Theater Rotterdam (NL). She has received several recognitions for her work, such as an Honorary Mention from Prix Ars Electronica (AT), YouFab Global Creative Award (JP), and the New Media Architecture Biennale Award (CA). Additionally, the Leonardo journal of MIT Press selected her thesis on Meeting spaces for Humans and Non-Humans in Media Art as one of the Top-Rated Thesis Abstracts of 2023.
Noor is honoured to join the scientific advisory board of the Mycoverse Foundation. Her expertise includes the combination of robotic systems and fungi, as well as her current research on biocomputing with fungi from artistic, technical, and philosophical perspectives. She looks forward to contributing her interdisciplinary expertise to advancing the foundation's mission of promoting the study and application of fungi to benefit the environment and society.
